The Harmony has a memory of what state it believes your devices are in (which is why it asks you if all your devices are "off" once it's first configured) so if you're powering your TV on using a power toggle button on your TV's remote and then you press the Watch DVD Activity on your Harmony, the Harmony is very likely to turn your TV off, believing that it has in fact turned it on. The lesson here is to use only the Harmony to control your devices.There are two ways to configure the remote, the easiest and most pain free way is to use the website as recommended on the getting started guide. You can configure a lot using the web interface and be up and running in probably half an hour or less. If you want complete control, you'll need to get yourself the Harmony Remote software which is available from the Logitech website... This takes a couple of seconds. Similarly, when the amp is powered off, power to all the other devices is switched off. Unfortunately, the Harmony software provides no option for inserting a delay in the power on, or power off, sequences. There are plenty of options for delays between commands sent to the same device, but those do not seem to affect the timing of commands sent to other devices. As a result, powering on requires the Help button to fix the power state of the source devices each time, and my PS3 and HTPC always complains that they were not shut down properly and must therefore perform a file system check.I did eventually manage to get around the problem by changing the AV receiver power settings (under to "leave this device on all the time" and then creating an activity which switches the receiver on and another which switches... It controls all of my AV set up (I've got it controlling my TV, Sky box, Blu Ray player, surround sound system, Apple TV and my hi-fi), meaning that the mountain of remote controls I used to have are now consigned to the cupboard. The Harmony isn't just a glorified remote control though: it uses Activities to automatically switch on all the devices needed for a specific task: so, to watch Sky, my remote will power on the TV, Sky and surround sound all on one button press... and then will switch them all off again when I'm finished. Where the remote really comes into its own though is in the use of Sequences - jobs which your normal remote does, but only after you've pressed a hundred buttons.
