After reading some of the reviews for this particular drive I thought I'd take the plunge.I was a bit apprehensive as the previous generation was plagued with problems, one of the main reasons I didn't get a Vertex 3. I've had the drive for about a month now so I cant comment on how well its going to run in the long-term but because it's using a custom marvel controller and their own firmware things should only improve with time (such as read/write speeds and reliability). The first thing you will notice is how crazy fast this drive really is, I mean extracting a 9GB file takes less then 2 mins!. Games load in less than half the time my previous SSD could do and a fraction of the time compared to my 10,000 RPM HDD... Edit: Just found out they've... The only problem I have suffered is with it's incompatibility with the Marvell 9128 chip on my Gigabyte x58A-UD7 motherboard. Because the only way on this motherboard to use 6Gb/s SATA III speeds is via this chipset, I ran into problems. Strangely the OCZ Agility 3, works fine, but not the Vertex 4. I'm hoping that a further firmware upgrade improves the situation, but there are many reports on the internet about how bad this chipset is. Currently Vertex 4 using Firmware v1.5 Beta.When the drive has been running on the more mature Intel ports, the drive has been problem free, no write errors and no freezing within Windows 7. If you can afford it, this drive is great. And you see a real speed improvement over the Agility 3 which are available quite cheaply now in comparison.
